Brilliant PR exercise, honest concern or panic? Decide for yourself. Giorgio Armani announced Saturday (Saturday) that he plans to launch the 2021 Winter Collection as part of Milan's Fashion Week in Closed Doors and Video Only, in light of recent developments in Italy and the recent Corona virus spread in the northern state.
As of Saturday night, media reports say 60 Italians had been diagnosed with the virus in the past two days, including 47 people in the Lombardy region, one of whom lives in the suburbs of Milan. On Friday, the first Italian patient to be diagnosed with ICU was hospitalized. The 38-year-old man is working at a Unilever facility located in Casalpestralangelo, a small town about an hour's drive from Milan.
"The show will be filmed in the empty theater, with no journalists and proprietors and will be available on Armani.com, on the brand's Instagram and Facebook pages at four o'clock in Italy," communicated to the media.
The veteran designer designed two displays, one in four and one in five, and both were scheduled to close on the fashion week that began on 19/2.
The decision was made out of "thinking about the well-being of guests and the desire to avoid exposing them to any possibility that could endanger their health," the company stated.
The Emporio Armenian display, however, was shown on Friday. Just hours before Armani’s statement on the summary show, an official announcement was issued about the rejection at the Milan Annual Glasses Exhibition, a regular trade event held in February each year and gathering worldwide buyers. The exhibition was postponed due to the global health crisis, and will probably be postponed to the end of May-early June.
