2020-02-25T18:36:12.466Z

It is a woman returned from China, hospitalized in Paris, and a man returning from Lombardy, cared for in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

The epidemic is progressing. Two new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in France, said Jérôme Salomon, director general of health, on Tuesday.

Among these two new cases is a young Chinese woman who returned from China on February 7. Hospitalized in Paris for "surveillance", the patient has "a trace of recent recovery", said the director, adding that "this person is doing very well". "Her partner tested is negative. Four people around her will be tested, "he added.

The other case is a French man returning from Lombardy. He was hospitalized in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The Director General of Health has not said more about it yet.

Fourteen cases registered in France

These announcements bring to 14 the total number of cases registered in France since the start of the coronavirus crisis. They are in addition to the 11 patients who have been declared cured and are no longer hospitalized, and to an 80-year-old Chinese man who died in mid-February in Paris.

China announced Tuesday an additional 71 deaths, bringing to 2,663 the number of deaths on its territory since the start of the epidemic of viral pneumonia.

For its part, Italy, which deplores ten dead and at least 283 contaminations, has set up a sanitary cordon around ten cities in the North. A meeting is to be held this Tuesday with the health ministers of neighboring countries.
