Shopping at Rewe unpacked is not always possible even with your own box. A customer is now giving free rein to her anger on Facebook.

Shopping at Rewe unpacked is not always possible even with your own box. A customer is now giving free rein to her anger on Facebook.

More and more customers want to save packaging and especially plastic when shopping and thus make their own personal contribution to environmental protection. However, the reality in many supermarkets is very different today - because plastic, paper and Co. envelop most products on the shelves. A customer tried to at least avoid the garbage at the meat counter with a box she had brought with her, but it didn't work without packaging.

Rewe: Customer wants to save packaging - but sausage was packed

A customer of a Rewe store in North Rhine-Westphalia is now upset on Facebook about what she sees as unnecessary packaging. She brought a “garbage avoidance box” with her when shopping and wanted to take her sausage home without any extra packaging. Although the sausage was packed in the box she had brought with her, she did not save any garbage with this effort - because in the box the sausages were packed as usual in the company's fresh wrapping paper coated with foil.

"Rewe ... are you serious?" The indignant customer wrote to the supermarket chain in a Facebook post. "In the Rewe market this is called 'unwrapped'!" As she describes in her post, she had to put her own box on a tray to avoid "that bacteria can jump over", but despite the effort, there was garbage. "There was definitely no saving on packaging here," says the customer.

Rewe: Statement by the group surprised

For no reason, the packaging doesn't seem to have ended up in the customer's box. As Rewe explains in a comment to the post, the specifications of the specialist vendors are based on a "handling concept that was coordinated with the responsible veterinary office in Cologne and the state office for nature, environment and consumer protection in North Rhine-Westphalia (LANUV NRW)," Rewe writes in the statement. Accordingly, the markets are bound to certain requirements - and this includes the guideline that "goods must not be placed loose in the reusable box". The branch affected by the post must also adhere to this - but the customer's feedback is passed on, according to the statement.

Avoiding waste in the supermarket - more and more possible

Even if the unwrapped shopping in the present case failed due to strict requirements, in Germany and Austria sausages can sometimes be purchased without garbage at the counter. In addition to completely packaging-free supermarkets, more and more supermarkets are offering packaging-free shopping at the sausage and cheese counter. Coating is also revolutionizing the consumer world.

Another Rewe customer is outraged about a product. The sight is actually less beautiful. Some customers might also think about this picture from a Rewe branch, which was published on Facebook.

A woman came across an article while she was shopping at Rewe, which shocked her deeply. She posted the photo on Facebook. Rewe itself, but also numerous other users reacted. The same thing happened to a man from Hamburg who discovered a "special offer" in his salad.

Now a shock discovery at Rewe is causing a sensation. A customer found a "slimy surprise" in a ready meal
