Sony's first 5G smartphone arrives

Sony, Realme, Honor and Huawei take to the YouTube virtual stage to launch their products. A choice made after the cencellation in mid February by the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona following the coronavirus emergency.

In a presentation streamed the president of Sony Mobile Communications, Mitsuya Kishida, showed the new top of the range, the Xperia 1 II, which is the first of the Japanese house compatible with the new 5G networks. The Xperia 1 II has a 6.5-inch OLED screen at 90 Hz and a 5G Snapddragon 865 processor, Qualcomm's most powerful, with 8 GB of Ram and 256 Gb of internal memory. The triple rear camera consists of three 12 megapixel sensors (wide angle, ultra wide angle and telephoto), plus an iTof 3D sensor. the front camera is 8 megapixel.

Resistant to water and dust, with headphone jack and 4 thousand mAh battery, it will arrive in European stores in the spring. At the same time Sony has shown the Xperia Pro, a professional 5G smartphone - not yet completed - with an Hdmi input to connect it to video cameras and cameras, which will be marketed only in Japan.

The company has not presented the Xperia 10 II, which however will hit the shelves in the spring. It is a mid-range device, with a 6-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 665 processor, 4 GB of Ram and 128 GB of internal memory. Three rear cameras; 12 megapixel main sensor flanked by ultra-wide angle and telephoto lens both 8 megapixel, as well as the front sensor.
