SoFine Foods BV , based in Landgraaf in the Netherlands, is recalling some of its vegan products that are sold in many German retail stores. SoFine's products are sold by Edeka, Marktkauf, Tegut and Dennree .

Recall: At Edeka and Tegut: Vegan products from SoFine are affected

The vegan products may contain traces of mustard , but this is not listed as an ingredient on the packaging. This was determined during self-checks, as produktrueckprechen.de reports, which is why the following products are now being recalled:

  • SoChicken chopsticks : 160 g with a best before date from December 16 , 2019 to January 14 , 2020 , sold by Edeka and tegut
  • Edeka organic vegan falafel balls : 200 g with a best before date from December 27th , 2019 to January 24th , 2020 , sold by Edeka and Marktkauf
  • ProLaTerre Vegan Nuggets : 160 g with best before date from 12/30/2019 to 01/14/2020 , sold by Dennree

Recall for vegan foods: return possible

According to the Dutch company SoFine , other products and other best-before dates of the above products are not affected. If you do not react to mustard, you can safely eat the products. However, if you are allergic to mustard, the company recommends avoiding the food.

Recall: Mustard can cause severe allergic reactions

Mustard can cause strong reactions in affected people. These can range from mild allergic reactions such as a rash, to more severe effects such as swelling of the skin and swelling in the mouth and throat, to anaphylactic shock with circulatory shock and organ failure in particularly bad cases. Irritation of the gastrointestinal tract with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are also possible with an allergy.
