Within the framework of the national teaching parity, the Government and the unions agreed to bring the minimum wage to 23 thousand pesos as of March 1 and 25 thousand in July , following a meeting headed by the Minister of Education, Nicolás Trotta.

The five teacher unions with national representation and the officials of the Ministry of Education and the Federal Council met at technical tables in which they also discussed pedagogical and programmatic issues.

The meeting in the Sarmiento Palace between the Minister of Education and his deputy minister Adriana Puiggrós - in addition to other officials - and the union referents of the five national trade union organizations had begun at 16.

Representatives of the Confederation of Education Workers (Ctera) - the largest national guild in the sector -, the Argentine Teachers Union (UDA), the Confederation of Argentine Educators (CEA), the Argentine Union of Private Teachers, sat at the table (Sadop) and the Technical Teaching Teachers Association (AMET).

After last Thursday the guilds participated in a pedagogical technical commission, the negotiations happened on Wednesday to cover the salary increases corresponding to this year.

In this way, union officials and leaders reached an agreement to rebuild teacher salaries across the country, which each jurisdiction may then abide by or improve, depending on the negotiation and budgetary possibilities of each province.

The national teaching peer was reactivated by the government of Alberto Fernández and opened on January 30.

Alesso's warning

The General Secretary of the Confederation of Education Workers (CTERA), Sonia Alesso , considered that there will be "provincial conflicts" before the start of classes, beyond the national equalization agreement.

He said it hours before the meeting that the unions and the national government will maintain to agree on the salary increase for teachers.

"I think there will be provincial conflicts as always, some will not be resolved because the national is resolved, and I think it depends on what happens in the afternoon whether or not classes start. I think and I hope so," said the representative of the largest national teaching union in an interview with El Destape radio.
