This Wednesday, hours before the meeting of the teaching unions with the Government, in which a minimum salary of $ 23,000 was defined for the month of March, the head of CTERA, Sonia Alesso, warned that there will be “provincial conflicts” .

It is that beyond the new established floor, in the current scenario of education there are strong differences between provinces. And there are districts in which the floor is not met.

Alesso focused precisely the inequality of salaries between provinces. "Today the salary floor today is $ 20,250, but not all provinces can afford it ," said the representative of the largest national teaching union in an interview with El Destape radio.

And he explained: “The difference between the provinces where they earn more and less earn is $ 13,000. We hope that there are no teachers under the poverty line. We know that it cannot be achieved overnight. "

But according to a study reported to Clarín from the Institute "Marina Vilte" of CTERA, that difference can be even greater and exceed $ 17,000 . That is, the minimum of La Pampa ($ 35,423.31) almost doubles that of San Juan ($ 17,906.81).

The report took as reference the net salary of the month of January, for the position of teacher of degree in an elementary school.

La Pampa, Neuquén and Santa Fe are the provinces with the highest teaching salaries in Argentina. Meanwhile, San Juan, Chaco and Jujuy have the lowest salaries for teachers in the country.

The latest official data published in April 2019 by the Ministry of Education of the Nation arrive until December 2018.

According to data reported by the teaching union, in Buenos Aires the minimum corresponds to $ 26,413 and in the City of Buenos Aires, $ 29,006. On the other hand, in Córdoba they receive a remuneration of $ 31,116, in Entre Ríos, $ 23,655, in Santa Fe $ 33,455, in Jujuy $ 19,860, in La Rioja $ 20,250 and in Salta $ 20,635.

In Tucuman, $ 28,406; in Chaco, $ 18,321; in Currents, $ 25,042; in Formosa, $ 20,500; Missions $ 20,250; Mendoza $ 22,987; San Juan, $ 17,906; San Luis, $ 32,839; Chubut $ 32,009; La Pampa $ 35,423; Neuquén $ 34,500; Rio Negro $ 31,115; Santa Cruz $ 24,000, Tierra del Fuego $ 25,000.

In the meeting this Wednesday afternoon, at the Sarmiento Palace, Alesso hoped to pave the way for the agreement, discussing three elements that come together: "raise the floor, the salary inequality compensation fund that goes to the poorest provinces , and the FONIL (National Teacher Incentive Fund) ".
