Munich - Because two tattoo inks also used in Germany can cause cancer, paralysis and allergies, Premier Products has now called them back. These are two “Tattoo Ink” products from the US brand Intenze. The colors affected are " Light Green " (LOT: SS270) with the best-before date 30.04.2023 and " Desert Sand Medium " (LOT: SS245) with the best-before date 31.10.2021 .
Tattoo inks recalled - due to discrepancies in the color composition
The reason for the recall does not sound too dramatic at first: "When examining a sample in Italy, a discrepancy in the composition of the color was found," says the portal produktrückprechen.de, citing authorities . The portal criticizes the latter for stating such a “lapidary” reason - “despite much better knowledge”. The European rapid warning system "RAPEX" had already tested the two affected colors four weeks ago and classified them as seriously dangerous .
"RAPEX" also specified the "inconsistencies in the composition". With the "Light Green" color, aromatic amines could cause cancer , and dichlorobenzidine is also included, which can trigger allergic reactions .
An aromatic amine that can cause cancer was also found in the color “Desert Sand Medium”. In addition, the color has an excessive barium and cadmium content . Among other things, the former can lead to paralysis and arrhythmias , the latter can damage the kidneys and bones and also cause cancer .

Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hesse, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia were mentioned as affected countries 14 out of 16 federal states.
