Facebook, close to fake news and false coronavirus treatments

Facebook prohibits ads that promise treatments for coronavirus and even posts that spread misinformation on the platform. Measures similar to those adopted in 2019 for fake news on vaccines. "We recently implemented a policy to ban ads that create a sense of panic, such as limited inventory or guaranteed cures," a spokesman for the Menlo Park company told the Business Insider website.

Facebook, like all social platforms and sites, must face the spread of a series of false information, rumors and false myths, a phenomenon that the World Health Organization (WHO) has called 'infodemic'. In Italy Facebook and Twitter have entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Health so that any research on coronavirus refers to the official information of the Ministry's website.

Even TikTok, the app used by the very young, has an alert that advises users to consult the WHO sites and local institutions.
