Recall of decoback muffin tins: increased value of 3-MCPD discovered
The reason for the danger is an increased value of 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol, also known as 3-MCPD . According to the Federal Institute for Risk Preservation, 3-MCPD are process-related contaminants in foods that have a health-damaging potential and are therefore undesirable in foods. According to the institute, there is an increased risk that a tolerable value will be exceeded, especially for frequent consumers and infants.
The company expressly points out that increased values were only found in molds that were not previously exposed to baking . It is unclear whether the food could be contaminated by the baking process. However, the company cannot rule this out and therefore recalls the goods.
Contaminants in muffin forms: Goods can be returned
