More than a hundred demonstrators gathered not far from the Salle Pleyel, in Paris, where the Cesar ceremony took place to denounce Roman Polanski and the twelve nominations for his film "J'accuse". The demonstrators, mainly women, sang slogans hostile to the director such as "rapist Polanski, guilty cinema" and more generally songs to denounce sexism.
The evening was the site of a few clashes. Before the ceremony, security forces surrounded the area and repelled demonstrators who had approached the red carpet.
Director Roman Polanski and his film crew decided not to attend the ceremony. Polanski is the subject of several rape charges.
