The German tourist who had been isolated and admitted to the SAMIC Hospital in Puerto Iguazú on suspicion of a coronavirus, decided to leave the healthcare center after learning that the first study carried out in a Posadas laboratory had resulted in a negative result for the virus in vilo to the world.

Moments of tension were experienced when the young man and his girlfriend were intercepted in the hospital access by two policemen, who were very nervous trying to contact their superiors for instructions. There is no law that can keep me here,” said Markus, a 34-year-old German engineer who has been touring Argentina for almost two weeks, in a firm tone.

“I have all the negative tests. Here, in the hospital, I am stressed, nobody attends to me. It is something that makes no sense, ”he said in reference to his preventive hospitalization.

“The chief doctor showed me on her cell phone that the results were negative. Yes I have dengue and that is why I want to go to my lodge to rest, rest, ”added the tourist. Markus had already contacted the German Embassy in Argentina and from there they told him there was no law or provision by which they could retain him.

“I arrived from London ten days ago and two years ago I am in Puerto Iguazú. I went to the doctor because I was feverish, but the doctor invented that I also had a cough and that's why they brought me to the hospital to study the coronavirus, ”he explained.

The tension subsided when the director of Samic Hospital, Raquel Matkoski, intervened that “the first result obtained in the Missions laboratory was negative for coronavirus and influenza . The patient remains stable, collaborative, lucid and that is why we let him go to his accommodation. We will continue in telephone contact until confirmation arrives from Buenos Aires. "

Matkoski asked the police to take the tourist and his girlfriend to their place of accommodation to prevent him from walking in the intense sun.

The protocol had been shot Tuesday afternoon from a private clinic in the City of the Falls, when doctors notified the entry of a German tourist with fever and cough . The first evaluation allowed to establish that there was an epidemiological link, since it came from Europe and that is why it was decided to carry out the specific studies for covid-19.

The boy was isolated in a room and several samples were taken. First it was established that he contracted the dengue virus, serotype DEN 1, and then that he did not have coronavirus.

The director of SAMIC Hospital said that the symptoms referred by the patient correspond to the dengue clinic. And he explained that once the coronavirus protocol was triggered, the study circuit must be completed, which includes a counter test from the Malbrán Institute, the result of which would be known only today.
