Coronavirus: what are the symptoms?

The World Health Organization (WHO) advises, among other things, to avoid animal markets and contact with animals in vulnerable regions, and generally to avoid visiting risk areas. These include the Italian region of Lombardy, the province of Hubei in China or the cities of Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Taizhou in the province of Zhejiang. The WHO has declared the coronavirus epidemic an international health emergency.

The following symptoms may indicate coronavirus infection:

• fever
• a headache
• Sore throat
• Breathing problems such as shortness of breath

If the course is severe, infection with Sars-CoV-2 can lead to pneumonia .

Strong similarity between Corona and SARS viruses

According to the editorial network in Germany, virus researcher Christian Drosten found a close connection between the currently spreading corona virus and SARS , the severe acute respiratory syndrome. The infectious disease manifests itself in the form of atypical pneumonia, which can be fatal.

Prevention is extremely important to avoid infection. Doctors recommend:

• Avoid large crowds in vulnerable areas.
• Avoid contact with sick people.

• A respirator mask lowers the risk of infection from droplet infection in high-risk areas.
