If someone comes to a soldier-level rainbow office with a proposal for an original series on eight grubby Tel Aviv, sitting all day in cafes trying to make an adult movie, they will probably laugh at it and throw it away from all the stairs. And not just a bow. No one would probably agree to broadcast such drama on a commercial channel today. Too provocative, quite provocative and particularly bubbly, so most viewers and advertisers probably won't like the idea.

But 20 years back, that was exactly the opposite of "Channel", which was one of Channel 2's flagship series. It was the arc of the Florentine card that aired on Talad, and, like it, also mirrored the wild image of young people. The big city, with endless dreams alongside the messy life at 20 plus. These detached people who sit in cafes all day - this bubble, and further disgust with it, were created by Nientes, among other things, "inverted".

"Reverse," created by Shmuel Haimovich, presented Israel somewhat differently. Orna Pitosi, Einat Weizman, Niro Levy, Danny Stagg and others became instant stars, and the characters they played ranged from weird and normative. They dealt with sexual fantasies and individual problems, with strange dialogues and cheap and sometimes surreal scenes (a figure devoured by alligators in Hamat Gader, another character who died and returned as a ghost).

Not sure the "upside" stands the test of time, so maybe it's a bit forgotten since. However, it did mark a time that was here, and now is the time for the next special big thing. The new series written and directed by Haimovich (the first two episodes aired here last night, and later this season is already available on YouTube) may make you "flashbacks" to the upside, and not just because Phytosi Weitzman seems to be reviving those photographed companies from the Nantes. The chemistry between their two characters, the rhythm of the dialogues, and basically all the reverse and comic-tragic-dark style of "upside down" hovers in the giant over the "special big thing".

The inner confusion still characterizes the main characters, but in the big "thing" is a series about disillusionment. About life and cancer, adolescence and decision-making. Judith (Weizman's character) copes with the disease and renews contact with her only child who gave in for adoption; Daniella (the character of Pitusi) is dealing with a crisis in marriage, and probably with a deeper internal crisis that is repressive. A crisis of age 40 plus.

Weizmann and Fitusi's ability to slip and recapture Haimovich's characters so easily is the one that made the success of "Reverse" and also does "the special big thing." For example, when Judith insists on an inexperienced surgeon only because he held her hand, smiled, promised he would be fine and she fell in love with him a little, it seemed so realistic and surreal at the same time.

It is really unfair to compare it to the "upside down", but it simply cannot be. The "special big thing" is like the upgraded and older version of "Reverse". And when I realized it, I immediately started humming that opening song by Yarmi Kaplan: "This is the first time I've been so excited ... right now."

Alongside Weizmann and Pitusi, there are other talented cast members, some of whom are wasted on boring characters and not deep enough. However, the late Galia Yishai, who passed away two months ago, is particularly prominent and plays the domineering mother of Judith. A huge role, saddening to know that he is the last of her life.
