Swedish cinema and theater actor Max von Sydow - who became famous for a long list of masterpieces he did with director Ingmar Bergman in the 1950s and 1960s - passed away at the age of 90.

The fruitful collaboration between Sidow and Bergman produced engaging and thought-provoking films such as "Wild Strawberries," "The Spring of Virgin" and "Through the Dark Glass." But of the 11 films made together, the most famous and iconic of all is undoubtedly "The Seventh Seal" of 1957, where Sidov played a knight playing chess with death.

Following the tremendous international success of his films with Bergman, in the mid-1960s Sidow moved with his family to the United States and also starred in Hollywood films. Among other things, he made memorable appearances for good in films like George Stevens' "Greatest Story Ever Told" , In which he embodied Jesus, and "The Exorcist," the hit hit by William Friedkin, which earned him a Golden Globe Award.
During his career, Sidov was twice nominated for an Oscar - for the first time in 1987 for his role in "The Occupy Pele," and a second in 2011 for the sub role he did in "Incredibly Close and Outrageously Noisy" - but he never won an award.

Other classic films that have contributed to his talent over the decades are the paranoia thriller "The Three Days of Condor," where he appeared alongside Robert Redford; "Hannah and her sisters" by Woody Allen; Stephen Spielberg's "Special Report"; Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

In one of his last roles, he played the three-eyed crow in the TV fantasy hit "Game of Thrones" - a role that earned him the Emmy Award nomination.
