(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MAR 14 - Due to the risk of spreading the Covid-19 pandemic in Syria, Syrian President Bashar al Assad today announced the postponement of more than one month of the legislative elections scheduled for April 13th. The Syrian presidency office reported in Damascopreciding that administrative consultations for the renewal of parliament will take place on May 20. Officially, no cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the Syrian areas controlled by the government, even though rumors of "hundreds" of infections were spread via social networks over the last few days.
