(ANSAmed) - BUCHAREST, MARCH 14 - Romania's parliament today voted to trust Ludovic Orban's new government, ending a political crisis that had lasted for weeks. The liberal premier had in fact been disheartened on 5 February and since then the Balkan country has been looking for a new head of government, after Florin Catu - to whom he was initially entrusted with the task - two days ago had surprisingly resigned just a few hours earlier the vote of confidence in parliament. In today's vote, 286 yes votes to confidence, 23 against. A broader-than-expected consensus, demonstrating the willingness of political forces to end political paralysis and to focus on common efforts to combat the coronavirus epidemic. President Klaus Iohannis yesterday entrusted Ludovic Orban with the mandate to form the new government. It will therefore be the Orban 2 government to ferry Romania towards the elections which are due to take place next autumn.
