"I'm afraid I was infected for a race at 2.50 €," says Victor from his hospital bed. Sunday evening, this courier at Deliveroo in Bordeaux, drops his bike when he returns from his last delivery. He can't do it anymore. “I have been really bad since Saturday ,. I held a day. And I called the Samu. I was told to stay at home. But my condition was getting worse. ”
The young delivery man is arrested by his doctor. He thinks he has the Covid-19. But impossible to know without screening.
Monday evening, Victor had trouble catching his breath. The cough is too strong. He decides to go alone to the nearest hospital, on his scooter. Once arrived at the reception of the polyclinic of Bordeaux, it collapses.
"The nurses immediately took me in and placed them on oxygen in a special unit where they keep people in quarantine," he says. Tested in stride, Victor is now waiting to have the results.
No protection for Deliveroo delivery people
“From the start, Deliveroo has left us to fend for ourselves. No masks, no gloves provided. He just offered to reimburse up to € 25 for the purchase of protective equipment. Only to find masks or hydroalcoholic gel, it's mission impossible, ”storms the young man.

If the delivery platform has recently set up a system of "contactless delivery" between couriers and customers, "measurement is not enough," says Victor. “We take bags from restaurants that do not always wear gloves. We, if we are lucky to have them, they end up with holes at the end of the day. Suddenly, we touch possibly contaminated bags and we can even transport covid-19 to the people we deliver. ”
