Coronavirus: "I am a rescuer, how can I help?"

2020-03-27T15:48:23.751Z

People trained in first aid can lend a hand to associations close to their homes or even register for the civic reserve.

Every day, Le Parisien takes action to answer your questions about the coronavirus. Today we are interested in this question from a reader: “I hold a resuscitator first aid certificate. I'm looking for an organization that needs reinforcement, in which I can make myself useful, and I don't know how to do it. ”

An understandable question, especially since the Regional Health Agency (ARS) in Ile-de-France recently launched an appeal to active or retired health workers to help healthcare establishments.

How to proceed ? The first thing to do, replies the Ministry of Health, is to make yourself known to the health reserve. But this directory of people ready to be mobilized by the government in the event of a crisis mainly lists health professionals.

There remains the civic reserve, set up by the government for a “general mobilization of solidarities”. Its main missions: distributing basic necessities and meals to the most deprived, helping to look after caregivers' children, maintaining ties with isolated fragile people and ensuring local solidarity (shopping for fragile neighbors, for example example).

Get closer to associations close to home

When contacted, the Red Cross also advises getting closer to the solidarity associations closest to your home, such as the White Cross, Civil Protection or the Order of Malta.

The Red Cross has also set up a solidarity concierge service, within which "punctual volunteers can be welcomed". “We need supportive deliverers, happy and reassuring people to pick up people's orders and bring them to them. The mission is done in pairs, respects a strict health protocol, and is preceded by a short distance training ”, specifies the association.
