(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 26 - Huawei goes on stage on YouTube to show its P40 smartphone line, the first real test of the post Google era: without apps and services of the Californian company, due to the ban imposed by the Trump administration, but with the rapidly growing alternative platform Huawei Mobile Services and its application store. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer division, unveils the top of the range P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro +, which make up the line of new smartphones together with the cheaper P40 Lite launched two weeks ago.
But phones are not the only news: the GT2e smartwatch, a smart speaker (but only for China), the "Gentle Monster" smart glasses end up in the spotlight. And, on the software front, a virtual assistant called Celia, the streaming music service Huawei Music with 50 million songs, also similar in the subscription price to Spotify, Apple Music and others, and Huawei Video which aims to compete to Netflix & co.
Returning to smartphones, the P40s traditionally bet on the photographic - but also video - sector developed with the German Leica, and on the strong integration of hardware and software, both "homemade". The phones are all 5G, are based on the Kirin 990 processor and are based on the open source version of Android 10, with the App Gallery application store.
The most exclusive is the P40 Pro +, with 6.58-inch OLED screen, white or black ceramic body and photographic sector focused on the 50 megapixel Ultra Vision sensor, supported by an ultra wide-angle 40 mp camera, a Tof sensor and two telephoto lenses , with 3X optical zoom and a 10X that brings the digital zoom up to 100X.
Dual 32 and 2 mp front cameras. Inside 8 GB of Ram and 512 GB of internal memory. Italian price and launch date will be announced in the coming weeks.
P40 and P40 Pro, in glass, will be in pre-order until April 6th. The P40 Pro is 6.58 inches, has the same front camera as its older brother, and on the back the same 50 mp sensor and the same 40 mp wide angle, to which are added a 12 mp (5X) telephoto lens and a Tof . With 8 GB of Ram and 256 GB of memory, it has a list of 1,050 euros and brings the Watch GT2 as a gift.
The P40 has a 6.1-inch screen and mounts a triple camera on the back: the 50 mp sensor is flanked by the 16 mp wide angle and an 8 mp (3X) telephoto lens. The front cameras are similar to the Pro, as are Ram and memory. The price drops to 800 euros. (ANSA).
