Barcelona cuts the wages of Cantera (its youth sector) by 30%, starting from 14 March and with a unilateral decision. The club, writes 'As', yesterday officially informed the leaders. The measure will continue for the duration of the state of alarm due to the coronavirus, which in Spain is producing devastating effects.
The paycheck reduction will affect all staff, both Barcelona B and the two youth teams, A and B. The Works Council has made it clear that the March salary will be paid in full. The cut will be felt on April, paid in May, when the 17 days of March will add up.
It was the managers of grassroots football who made the wage cuts known: Patrick Kluivert, Jordi Roura and Aureli Altamira. For them, the cut will be even more substantial, reaching 50%.
For many coaches, employees and players it is a real blow, 'As' stresses: in most cases these are people with contracts that do not exceed 45 thousand euros gross per year.
