(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MARCH 28 - The gathering of tents and gazebos of the anti-government protest movement that broke out last October and continued for months in various cities of the country was dismantled in the night in the center of Beirut. The incident occurs while the country is in a "general mobilization" for the coronavirus emergency and the government has imposed a night curfew as a measure to curb the Covid-19 pandemic. The interior ministry explained that the tents and structures of the permanent sit-ins in Piazza dei Martiri and in the nearby Riad Solh square have been removed to allow the area to be infested. The two squares had become by mid-October the symbol of an unprecedented popular protest in recent years and which has involved almost all regions of Lebanon.
