(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 28 - Reverend Joseph E. Lowery, a historic American activist for black and civil rights rights in general, died at the age of 98. Americans write it, quoting the family. Black preacher of Alabama, a friend of Martin Luther King with whom he shared the fight against segregationism, made a passionate prayer for the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009. With the advent of the first black president, Lowery called for "justice that comes flowing like water" and "righteousness like a majestic torrent".
Lowery died in his Atlanta home with family members, and his death is unrelated to the coronavirus.
