Celebrities who have died of coronavirus: Alan Merrill, Mark Blum and more

Alan Merrill, composer of the song "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", died of complications from the coronavirus. COVID-19 has claimed other celebrity lives.


COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in dozens of countries and keep millions of people on alert. Since the world pandemic was declared, the population, including several celebrities, have begun to take measures to protect themselves from this disease.

However, some stars and public figures failed to avoid spreading this disease, and in more unfortunate cases, have lost their lives.

Alan Merrill , best known for having composed the hit song "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", passed away on the morning of Sunday, March 29, after experiencing complications from the coronavirus.

It was Laura, the daughter of the leader of the band The Arrows, who through Facebook reported that her father died in a New York hospital. Merrill was 69 years old.

According to information from the newspaper El País , María Teresa de Borbón , known as "the red princess" and cousin of King Felipe VI , died on Thursday, March 26, in Paris, at the age of 86 due to the virus.

Mark Blum , an American theater actor known for films like "Desperately Seeking Susan" and "Crocodile Dundee," died after testing positive for COVID-19.

Renowned chef Floyd Cardoz died Wednesday, March 25, at age 59, at Mountainside Medical Center in New Jersey from complications caused by the coronavirus.

According to information from People, the winner of the "Top Chef Masters" entered the hospital on March 18 with a fever and the doctors proceeded to perform the test.

Before going to the hospital, Floyd posted on his Instagram account a message in which he revealed that he had just returned from a trip to Germany.

On March 23, the entertainment world dressed in mourning at the sad news of the death of the actress, Lucía Bosé , mother of Miguel Bosé .

It was the singer himself, who confirmed it through his official Instagram account. "Dear friends, I inform you that my mother Lucía Bosé has just passed away. She is already in the best of places," she wrote, along with a photograph of her mother.

According to various media outlets, the Milan-born star died at the age of 89 from coronavirus-derived pneumonia.

Later, the interpreter shared with his more than 800,000 followers on Instagram an emotional farewell video for his mom, as he called her affectionately.

The singer accompanied the clip of one of his most moving songs, the song "Te Amaré". The sensitive images showed how the mother and son lived together and some of the most special moments they lived together.

Another personality who lost his life because of COVID-19 was the businessman Carlos Falcó , a former expat of Enrique Iglesias .

The man, who was a partner of the interpreter's mother, Isabel Preysler during the eighties and father of her sister Tamara Falcó , died at 83 years of pneumonia.

Through his social profile, Iglesias broke the silence and mourned the death of his mother's ex. The Spanish singer posted a moving image accompanied by a heartfelt message.

For her part, Tamara thanked her followers for the signs of affection towards her father and also took the opportunity to recognize the great work done by the doctors who attended the businessman.
