A 1,000-bed military hospital ship, the USNS Comfort, has arrived in New York Harbor to help relieve city hospitals faced with an influx of coronavirus patients.
This vessel, equipped with 12 operating theaters and 1,200 caregivers, must accommodate patients requiring intensive care not linked to the virus, in order to allow hospitals to focus on the patients of Covid-19. New York State is the most affected by the pandemic in the United States. As of March 29, 2020, there were more than 59,500 cases reported for 965 deaths.
