The 1/4 filing "of not one but two infringement procedures pending on our country and concerning exhausted batteries and plant protection products". The announcement was made by Environment Minister Sergio Costa, explaining that "environmental emergencies do not stop and our ministry's activity cannot stop either".

The two procedures "which, as the Ministry of the environment in coordination with the mission structure for infringement procedures of the Prime Minister, we managed to have filed even before an appeal to the Court of Justice - continues the minister in a note - they avoid Italy from aggravating possible disputes that could have led to significant economic sanctions ".

The act of closing the two procedures will be formalized tomorrow, Wednesday 1 April, by the College of European Commissioners.

In detail, "the first infringement procedure relating to the failure to present the reports for 2017 on the recycling levels reached for spent batteries - reads the note - was overcome thanks to the timely transmission of the data provided by Ispra to the European Commission to end 2019. The second infringement procedure was closed following the adoption of the ministerial decree of 7 November 2019 which amended the annexes of legislative decree 150 of 2012, thus identifying the harmonized risk indicators and fully implementing the European directive n. 2019/782 ".
