You need:

  • 100 g (not ml) warm to lukewarm yeast wheat

  • 1 tbsp wheat flour type 405
  • 1 screw jar

Here's how to do it:

  • Clean the screw-top jar thoroughly and boil it briefly so that it is absolutely germ-free.
  • Place the screw-top jar on the scale, press tare to zero the display, and then pour in enough yeast wheat until 100 grams are in the jar.
  • Add the flour and sugar to the beer.
  • Close the jar well and shake vigorously until everything has mixed and dissolved. This can take a minute or two.
  • Now leave your yeast batch at room temperature overnight or 15 hours, then it is ready.

    How to use your homemade yeast

    Before you use your homemade yeast for baking , you have to shake it vigorously again. Your yeast is roughly equivalent to a cube of fresh yeast purchased *. Replace some of the liquid (water or milk) in your recipe with the liquid yeast.

    The driving force is not that strong, so you have to be a little more patient. The yeast dough will not rise quickly *. Allow a little more time for this step. You don't have to be afraid of a beer note. This cannot be tasted out in the finished product.
