In the context of an epidemic that hit the "Italian population hard" - says Intesa Sanpaolo - and with a feeling of closeness to all the families who have seen the losses of loved ones, Intesa Sanpaolo wants to underline the value of effectiveness and timeliness with which the health structures that will benefit from the arrival of resources and medical materials so necessary in the emergency have been identified ".

Messina: 'Significant interventions in a short time' - "In the early stages of this extraordinary emergency, we were the first to make a significant amount available to counter the effects of the epidemic," comments Carlo Messina, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo.

"We have decided - he adds - to donate 100 million euros, making them available to the Extraordinary Commissioner and Civil Protection to structurally strengthen the National Health Service and, at the same time, to purchase medical equipment and materials. We are very satisfied with how, in a very limited period of time, a close collaboration, or rather a real partnership, has been able to activate a significant series of interventions and bring concrete benefits on the whole national territory. In just as quickly we will define new and important measures " .

"Our intervention, carried out thanks to the strength of Intesa Sanpaolo - Messina continues - and of the people who are part of it , wants to contribute to the care of the sick and wants to be a sign of appreciation for the great work of those on the front line, doctors, nurses and all the categories that perform essential services, to which our thanks go. We are a bank that wants to make a significant contribution to tackling the epidemic, so I decided to support specific health initiatives with a personal donation of one million euros and I am proud of the fact that 21 managers reporting directly to me will make a total of similar donations for around € 5 million ".
