Two thirds of residential establishments for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) are affected by Covid-19.

Some 411 of the 620 accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) in the Grand Est region are affected by Covid-19. This was revealed on Wednesday the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Grand Est. The coronavirus has killed nearly 1,600 people in the region since the start of the pandemic, including 570 in these structures whose deaths have so far not been taken into account in the figures given every day.

As expected, it is in the Haut-Rhin, where the virus has mowed the most residents, like adults who died in hospitals. 314 people died in nursing homes in the southern department of Alsace. Far behind, follow the Bas-Rhin with 71 deaths and the Moselle with 53 deaths.

Then come the Vosges with 46 dead, including at least twenty in the Cornimont nursing home, Haute-Marne with its 32 deaths, half of which in a structure in Saint-Dizier. 19 residents died in the Meuse, 16 in Meurthe-et-Moselle and 15 in the Marne. Finally 4 dead were recorded in the Aube and zero in the department of the Ardennes.

The ARS recalls that "from the first days of the epidemic, prevention and protection measures were taken by the management of nursing homes to preserve the health of residents".
