You are usually one of the busiest entertainers in France with no less than three daily. You took over the direct because you could not bear to do nothing?
NAGUI. No, that's not it (laughs) ! To be very honest: at the start of confinement, we were no longer allowed to go to the Maison de la radio. We stopped suddenly, but we immediately said that we could have each continued at home. Technically it was very complicated to set up. And, at first, and it is quite legitimate, the management of France Inter focused on the news sections. They first installed lines so that journalists from the editorial team could intervene from their homes. Once everything was running, the radio management told us that they wanted to restart our programs, provided that we were all at home. I said yes right away!
So are you all at home?
Yes, I am sitting on the dining room table, and I do the program using my computer. So, for an hour my children (note: they are from 6 to 21 years old) are prohibited from using wi-fi. They do what they want, except noise. The columnists are all on video conference. Just like our director and our guest. We make signs with the camera when we want to speak. It is not simple: this is why we tightened the program over 1 hour, instead of an hour and a half usually.
It's a feat, all these live broadcasts remotely!
The feat is that of the Radio France teams, who manage to manage all of our microphones and broadcast them live. It's crazy work they do! It's magic to think that six people scattered can do a live broadcast.

And after seven days, when you feel that you have left for six weeks of confinement, you tell yourself that the only thing that will change is the sad counter of the number of dead…
With this heavy news, we absolutely need to change our minds! We want to watch "Grandpa is resistance" or a TV game. And that makes it even more good, because there is no allusion to the coronavirus! I'm not a musician, I can't do live music on Facebook. I am not a humorist. But I can do my job: entertain. I can't do my games with the candidates by webcam… But on the other hand the broadcast of France Inter, I can. And that's good, there are comedians and singers.
Isn't the news too heavy for comedians?
On the contrary! It inspires them enormously. Comedians have an important role: they put words into words about our despair. There are those who fight to keep living in hospitals, supermarkets, etc. But there is also the vast majority of others, who must wait patiently at home. So laughing makes us feel very good. And we see it in hilarious tweets and all these jokes, diversions and photos that we exchange by SMS. I loved this message received: "If you are unhappy because of confinement, tell yourself that somewhere on this planet, someone is confined with your ex!" "
You are cloistered at home with your four children these last two weeks, it is time that that stops?
Especially for children, because I'm on their back all day! Like all parents, I plunged back into homework. Before, I did that only on weekends, there it is morning and evening. I rediscover the equations, the remarkable identities, the equations, the geometry and also "Germinal" and "L'Etranger", by Camus. So, I reread them to discuss them with them. This puts our children's notes into perspective. It's hard what they learn. And the quantity of materials is impressive!
