Asian stock markets fall on the oil price wave

Expectation for the fourth quarter 2019 deficit / GDP in Italy (ANSA)


The Asian stock exchanges closed down after an initial recovery attempt and with the drop in oil prices. Markets suffer from fears over the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy. Investors are looking at the trend of gold. Flat Tokyo (+ 0.01%) which interrupted the trail of four negative sessions. On the foreign exchange market, the Japanese currency halts the appreciation on the dollar, trading slightly below 108, and on the euro at 116.80. In red, China with Shanghai (-0.84%), Shenzhen (-0.73%) and Hong Kong (-0.76%). Mumbai also fell (-1.73%) while Seoul is flat (+ 0.03%). On the macroeconomic front, a series of data is coming, including the Pmi Markit index services from most of the Eurozone countries. From Italy the figure for the deficit / GDP of the fourth quarter 2019 is expected. From the United States the unemployment rate, the wages index and the new non-agricultural employees are expected.

Oil prices are losing ground after yesterday's surge. Brent falls 3.2% to $ 28.99 while the WTI is down 5.1% to $ 24.04.
