The premier: 'Lombardy could have made it a red zone'. The governor: 'Fault of both' (ANSA)

On the day when the first patients arrive in the new Covid hospitals built in record time in the pavilions of the Milan and Bergamo Fairs, the controversy between the government and the Lombardy Region is again on fire. This time it was the Prime Minister Conte who threw petrol on the fire, in a response to the online newspaper Tpi.it who made an investigation into the matter that "if Lombardy had wanted, it could have made Alzano and Nembro Zona Rossa " seen that " Regions have never been deprived of the power to adopt contingent and urgent ordinances ".

" I don't think there are any faults in this situation, " Governor Attilio Fontana replied to him in a narrow mail, adding that "assuming there is a fault, the fault is possibly both." Put another way: the Region had asked for the red zone in the Bergamasca and the government with the decree of 8 March made the whole of Lombardy become a red zone, so "maybe on Alzano something more rigorous could have been done, but after that a red zone had been established, we did not even have the possibility to intervene from a legal point of view ".

On Nembro and Alzano - Conte said in a press conference - "did we do wrong or do well? We believe we have acted in science and conscience , we take full responsibility for it . With the red zone extended to all Lombardy we believe we have taken on a more rigorous decision. Then there will be time to judge and I will not shirk . Now is the time for concentration and courage to get out of the emergency all together ".

But the Region's contrareplica arrives: "Faced with the mapping of the spread of the infection, the Lombardy Region on 3 March reiterated, among others, the request to establish a red zone for Nembro and Alzano, through the Technical Scientific Committee supporting the Palazzo Chigi who shared this assessment, forwarding it to the President of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Health ":
