The smartphone is always there - and so is Google, if it is an Android device. However, you can ask the internet company to move a little further.
Berlin (dpa / tmn) - The corona crisis reveals what many may have long forgotten. Google is constantly storing the locations of users with Android smartphones and is now publishing this data to visualize changes in the movement patterns of the population due to contact blocks and exit restrictions.
Although the data is aggregated and anonymized, it does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the individual user. But that doesn't change the fact that Google knows the movement patterns of the individual. If that's not right, you can and should deactivate the so-called location history for or your mobile devices in your Google account under activity settings.
After that, Google no longer records locations. However, all previous movements are still saved. These must be deleted in the Google Maps timeline.
