(ANSA) - AOSTA, APRIL 06 - Never so many accidents in the mountains: with more than 10 thousand missions, 2019 closes as the record year for the National Corps of Alpine Expeleological Rescue (Cnsas), with a 7.1% increase in missions.
The large part (75%) in mountain terrain, impervious and hostile.
They mainly concerned injured people, but there were also 950 searches for missing persons, 280 civil protection interventions, 164 road accidents, 42 avalanches, 30 gully rescue, 10 in the caves and 2 interventions for the evacuation of cableway installations. A total of 41,666 rescuers were employed, distributed over 28,458 man-days, for a total of 187,504 hours of actual use. In 2019, 10,073 people were rescued.
Of these, 3,376 (33.5%) were unlawful. 6,190 were injured (61.4%) and there was a slight drop in mountain deaths, from 458 in 2018 to 446 in 2019 (4.4% of the total).
