2020-04-07T14:36:30.236Z

Going to wash your clothes is part of the authorized trips. However, some hygiene precautions must be taken in the establishment.

Every day, Le Parisien takes action to answer your questions about the coronavirus. Today we are interested in this question from Stéphane: "At the bottom of my house is a laundromat: can I use the dryers without risking contaminating my sheets?" "

Moving to a laundromat, during this period of confinement, is one of those authorized by a decree dated March 23. It suffices to tick, on his certificate of displacement, the box "displacements to carry out purchases of basic necessity, in establishments whose activities remain authorized".

Once there, you can use the washing machines and the dryers without problems, but you will have to take some precautions. The distance of one meter between users obviously applies in the room, as well as the recommendation to wash your hands after using the machines and that of throwing your trash in the bins available.

A linen washed at more than 60 ° C

The Lavclub brand also encourages, on its website, to wait outside the premises for its machine to finish its activity. It also indicates that it is essential to wash your laundry at least at 60 ° C in order to disinfect it.

Indeed, in a decision of February 18, the High Council of Public Health had recommended, in the event of contamination of the linen, especially in patients with Covid-19, to “wash the sheets and the linen [ …] In a washing machine with a usual detergent and a cycle at 60 ° C minimum for 30 minutes minimum ”. Regarding the dryer, same precautions: you can dry your laundry at more than 60 ° C.
