Since March 15, all bars, cafes and restaurants in France have had to lower their curtains. One month after the first containment measures to halt the spread of the coronavirus, some fast food chains are starting to partially reopen, notably with the establishment of a contactless withdrawal service or home delivery. This is the case for the American brand McDonald's.
For now, this only concerns a dozen restaurants in the west of France and three in Ile-de-France. We went this Monday noon in front of the McDonald's in Vélizy-Villacoublay (Yvelines), where around fifteen employees have returned to service since last Wednesday.
Customers at the rendezvous
Some customers who have been missing Big Macs for several weeks have not hesitated to come from far to take their orders at the drive. “We come from Essonne. We took advantage of having to drop my stepdaughter at her mother's place to pick up a McDonald's here, ”says Claire.
"It's pure pleasure to be able to eat fat," said another motorist who lives in the area, and who rushed into the queue of cars at 11 am when he learned of the partial reopening of the brand.
