After a first week of confinement, 63% of internet users declared that they consume dematerialized cultural goods lawfully only, compared to 56% in the barometer published in May 2019 by the High Authority for the dissemination of works and protection of rights on the internet ( Hadopi). The rate of consumers of at least one illicit offer decreased slightly to 21% (compared to 26% in 2019). A quarter of them stated that they had increased their legal practices since the start of the containment period, particularly concerning series.

Free and paid offers

As in 2019, these consumers prefer streaming sites, converters, and direct download sites in order. Almost a third (30%) of Internet users in general have used the free offers offered in these times of confinement by many platforms. And almost half (46%) of them subscribe to a pay video platform, compared to 36% in 2019, and 17% to a music offer, compared to 15% in 2019. 21% are subscribed to a channel Pay TV, compared to 23% in 2019.

According to the first part of this survey, published on April 7, French Internet users have declared that they have consumed more cultural products online since the start of confinement, in particular series, video games and films. A majority of Internet users surveyed (53%) consider that the consumption of cultural products is the activity " most essential to their balance " (outside of work), ahead of sport (40%) and manual activities (39%).
