Simple fabric masks do not protect the wearer themselves, but are intended to prevent the droplets from spreading. But where can you buy face masks ? Aldi, Edeka, Netto and Co. give hope.

Shopping in the supermarket, going to the pharmacy, driving a bus - all of this is possible all over Germany from Monday, April 27 at the latest, only with a mask . Surgical masks should be reserved for medical personnel and FFP masks are also scarce and not suitable for long-term wear. 

If you don't want to sew or make your own mask , you can hope that supermarkets such as Aldi, Rewe, Lidl, Netto, Penny and Co will soon add them to the range and consumers can buy face masks there. 

Selling masks: Edeka, Netto and Hit

According to the supermarket chain Edeka , the mask requirement "as far as possible". On request, a spokeswoman for Edeka announced that the company is able to provide sufficient face masks for its employees. "We hope to be able to offer customers masks for personal protection in our shops by the beginning of May ," said the Edeka spokeswoman. The same applies to the Netto Marken-Discount discount chain belonging to Edeka : according to a spokeswoman, the same applies: from the beginning of May you should also be  able to buy face masks .

Also hit market plans "of course", all employees with mouth protection masks equip. They will "also meet consumer demand by offering customers high-quality reusable mouth and nose covers for purchase," said a spokeswoman for Hit.

Selling masks: Real and Kaufland

The Dusseldorf-based chain Real announced on request, provide their employees with adequate mouthguard-M asken equip. "We want to make masks available for sale shortly," said a Real spokesman. Accordingly, there should be different versions, for example a 5-pack "high-quality textile masks" for 19.99 euros. When the masks go on sale is not yet clear. 
You should soon be able to buy face masks from  Kaufland as well: "We are currently working flat out to meet consumers' current needs for protective masks in a timely manner," the Kaufland chain told the news portal watson.de.

Selling masks at Aldi: Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd

The discounter Aldi Nord * has not yet fully decided on the sale of face masks . "We are currently examining the procurement of large quantities of protective masks or everyday masks to equip our employees or for sales," Aldi Nord's press office told the news portal watson.de.

Aldi Süd * was less cautious than its sister company Aldi Nord when it came to selling face masks : "We would also like to offer our customers disposable or textile masks soon." First of all, the equipment of the employees has top priority, according to Aldi Süd. The equipment is a supplement to the existing equipment. 

Selling masks: Lidl, Rewe and Penny

Anyone who  hopes   to be able to buy face masks from Lidl will likely be disappointed: the discounter said on request that no masks are currently being sold. Lidl, however, wants to equip its employees with masks. The related chains Rewe and Penny told the news portal watson.de: "Whether we can offer our customers appropriate products is currently being examined."
