The compulsory readings of 15 great writers

Margaret Atwood, Bret Easton Ellis, Javier Cercas and other guests at the Madrid Chapter One festival, which was suspended due to the health crisis, choose their reference authors on International Book Day


What are the bedside books of Margaret Atwood, Bret Easton Ellis, Javier Cercas, Manuel Vilas, Mathias Énard, Alejandro Zambra or Cristina Morales? The 15 authors invited to the literary festival Chapter one, organized by Matadero Madrid in collaboration with Casa del Lector, Cineteca Madrid and the Naves del Español and seven major Spanish publishing labels, have chosen their reference readings on the occasion of International Book Day, which takes place this Thursday. The festival, which was due to take place in late March and was suspended due to the health crisis, has been postponed until autumn.
