In suspension of payments since April 20, Presstalis, which distributes 75% of the press in France, plays its survival. Before a crucial hearing of the Paris Commercial Court on May 12, a period of consultation begins between publishers of magazines and daily newspapers, who oppose the future of messaging. The two must agree on a restructuring plan whose total amount, estimated at 150 million euros, will go through a recovery plan and a reduction of at least 50% of the workforce, which amounted to 900 employees.

The State is ready to contribute to this vast plan, but on the condition that the two cooperatives agree among themselves, negotiate this plan with the unions and reinvest part of the 120 million euros in debts owed by Presstalis. Louis Dreyfus, president of the daily newspapers cooperative and president of the board of directors of the Le Monde Group, made a gesture of openness towards MLP, Presstalis competitors.
