Xbox Series X: Logo of Microsoft's next-gen console first appeared

Microsoft has protected a logo under trademark law that apparently belongs to the Xbox Series X.

While Sony has only shown the controllers of the PlayStation 5 so far, we have known what Microsoft's Xbox Series X will look like for almost half a year. The next-gen console was presented to the public at the Game Awards 2019 last December. We now know what the official Xbox Series X logo will look like.

Microsoft recently filed an application for trademark protection with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It was about a new trademark that actually leaves no doubt that it is the Xbox Series X * logo. It shows a big X - to the left of it is the lettering "Series" in capital letters.

Many industry insiders assume that this logo will not only be visible on the console  , but on all kinds of merchandise that Microsoft will send to the console and then into the race. They therefore expect it on T-shirts, stickers, bags, posters and similar items.

Xbox Series X could come in different versions

There is now speculation on the Internet that the "Series" could be an umbrella term for an entire type of console and that the "X" could be replaced by another symbol. Microsoft is likely to launch another Xbox in addition to the Series X , which will be less powerful but also cheaper . 

This could then, for example, do without a physical drive and only have digital games - as is the case with the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. It is quite possible that the slimmed-down variant is given a similar nickname. The name  Xbox Series S sounds at least quite realistic. However, Microsoft is still silent about another console version.
