The corona virus has turned the world of work upside down. A not quite as central part, which still concerns many people: in many places the canteens are closed or work only very limited. Suddenly you have to take care of the supplies during the lunch break. If you don’t always have sandwiches, we have a couple of totally simple recipes for which you just need a kettle.
Tortellini with pesto
Good news for pasta fans: you don't have to pre-cook your pasta at home and then go looking for a microwave *. Simply buy tortellini from the refrigerated counter . They are fresh and only need to soak in hot water for a few minutes - which you can easily do in a kettle. The tip also works with other pasta types from the refrigerated counter, such as tagliatelle. All you have to do is eat a dollop of pesto of your choice and a few cherry tomatoes and you have conjured up a delicious, nutritious meal.

Cereals with fruits
You can find them in different versions in the children's department: cereal porridge . They are usually mixed with milk, but you can also prepare them with hot water and then simply stir in some yoghurt . Fresh fruits or apple pulp go well with this.
Tsampa is much more exotic . This roasted barley flour is eaten in Tibet and also tastes delicious with fruit and some cinnamon and sugar. The porridge is also delicious with hearty combinations such as cheese or grilled vegetables.
This is how your Tsampa can look like:

It used to be called oatmeal, but porridge * sounds a lot more appetizing. You can boil the oatmeal with milk, but also with water. And this is where the kettle comes into play. Simply mix oatmeal with the fruit of your choice , some sugar and cinnamon and pour so much hot water over it that the oatmeal can soak up. Here, too, a dollop of yogurt adds a little creaminess.
Asian soup from the glass
A hot soup * warms the stomach and soul. This glass version can be prepared at home and taken to the office. There you just have to pour hot water from the kettle over it and your lunch is ready.
You need:
- a screw or mason jar
- 30 g glass noodles
- 200 g vegetables of your choice
- 2 tsp miso paste
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 thin slice of ginger
- 1 pinch of turmeric powder
How to prepare the soup in the glass:
The "soup in glass" principle works, of course, not only in the Asian version. You can also use small soup or vermicelli instead and use conventional grained broth instead of miso paste and soy sauce. Try it.

Couscous With Vegetables
In contrast to pasta, couscous has a very short cooking time. You can pour the small durum wheat balls comfortably with hot water from the kettle, let them swell, season and eat them with a side dish of your choice. Simply mix the portion of couscous you want to eat in the office at home with one or two teaspoons of granulated broth, so you don't have to take as many spices with you.
You can also prepare the vegetables you want to eat at home. Bell peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers are great, but canned chickpeas also taste wonderful and fill you up. As soon as the couscous is swollen, simply mix in the vegetables and you have a warm, filling meal .
