The 72nd Independence Day for the State of Israel will be remembered today for another birthday. Without the crowds on the streets, no burns in the eyes from foam scraps, without calculating how much the artists have made in stages and without fireworks smuggling post-traumatic and under-bed dogs. Overall not so bad.

Unable to huddle and sweat outside, the television gained a foothold that it had not had for years on Independence Day, and besides who was in charge of the BBQ, probably everything else was in front of the screen. Beyond the regular and requested dose of "Hillfone Hill Doesn't Answer," "The Band" and Uri Zohar films, this year more than ever, people watched the beacon ceremony, which was a sign of an essay.

This year, the Beacon Ceremony won exceptionally high viewing rates (43.1%) and brought with it a few moments that will still be remembered here for a while. Esther Rada and Guy Za-Land directed the ceremony according to the protocol, and were tense and excited. Guy, who has already become a housewife in your living room and is directing the big web productions ("Big Brother", "Survivor"), looks primed against the flaming torches, and for a moment it looks like yet another impeachment ceremony at the Tribal Council.

Following the unity, there was not even a dispute about the Prime Minister's speech at the ceremony, which became a clip due to the situation. Benny Gantz in his new role as Speaker of the Knesset gave his first appearance, and, exceptionally, what is expected of this class, reminded the prisoners in Gaza.

After the beacon lighting ended, we moved on to the artistic part that looked more like a fantasy festigal. A spectacular and absurd show of lights and sounds, dancers and singers, all lift up to the people of Israel when in the background, a very short distance away, is buried a man who envisioned the country but would never foresee the celebration they head for, starring songs, Nasrin Kadri, Yardana Arazi, Shimon Buscilla , Noa Kirl and Hassan Eden, who couldn't be more relevant with "No More Clubs."

• The beacon lighting ceremony virus

The text ended with a call to go out on the balconies and sing "Alive, Alive, Alive" - thus making another attempt to squeeze the trend a minute after it started. At least in my neighborhood the reading has been completely ignored.

But with all due respect to unity and connections, the great battle of Independence was between Eyal National Union "I Deserve to Light a Holocaust" Golan and Omar Adam on the Web and "We Will Not Stop Singing" with a host of artists and stars in the rainbow. It is impossible to ignore the resistance that arose before the appearance of Golan on the network, which created a media echo, and it is also difficult to estimate its impact. Either way, it was one of Mesh's invested shows, where Omar once again proved a man he knew how to pick up, but this time he did it while leaving dust for the Golan.

Meanwhile, Asi and Ruth's request did not remain suckers, and armed with finance songs (is there a channel on which she did not appear in Independence?), Moshe Peretz and others, picked up the studio and probably you at home. The numbers that arrived the next day probably did not cause the festivities on the network: "We will not stop singing" 20.7%, Golan and Adam 12.7%. The network has only "survival" left.

Another sign that we were on our way back to the routine we got when we stopped advertising. Advertisers have returned to the screens and maybe you are annoying, but this is an important industry that directly and indirectly supports tens of thousands of people.

Because of the corona and the fact that people were forced to stay in homes, Independence Day 2020 was the show of power for television - who is stronger, who is bigger and who is more interesting. In the spirit of the time, maybe it's time to talk about essays.

• 14 awards for the controversial "boys"

• After the breakup: Ben Zini shakes his head and cries

• Because of the corona: changes in the Oscars

• The first European country to return to normal

• The "Riddler Boy From Mumbai" passed away

• Israel Katorza: "Ashamed of the bereaved parents"
