In the Corona crisis in particular, parcel services do not have to complain about a sluggish order situation. Nevertheless, customers are not enthusiastic about every service offered, it seems. For the first mail, DHL is therefore hiring a particularly customer-friendly service.

DHL will cancel this service from May 1st

The requested delivery time should no longer exist from the key date. The food newspaper already reported on this in mid-March, but DHL * has now confirmed the project to the online portal Chip. With the special service, customers could have their parcel sent to them at a specific time of day - especially practical for those who are reluctant to puzzle over the arrival of a delivery and thus were able to directly choose a suitable date. However, the service for the day was canceled in September 2019 limited to two slots in the evenings: 18-20 am or 19 to 21 indicator .

This service no longer seems to have paid off for DHL. Too few customers are willing to pay a surcharge for delivery on a specified desired date . Therefore, the service will be completely discontinued on May 1st.

These DHL services are being expanded

Other DHL services, however, seem to be more popular with customers: When delivering to a desired location , customers can choose whether the package should be parked in the tool shed, in the garage or at another location on the property. This saves DHL a second attempt and the customer gets his parcel on time without having to pick it up at a collection point. Especially in times of Corona, where recipients want to stay at home and avoid contact with other people, this has become a popular alternative.

Shipment to a Packstation also offers customers greater flexibility: The selected Packstation is specified as the delivery address and the package * can be picked up at any time within nine calendar days using a pick-up code. There are already 4,500 of these Packstations nationwide and DHL wants to have more of them in the future.
