Well-known streaming service is completely discontinued - what that means for users now

A well-known streaming service will be completely discontinued in summer 2020. Those who have subscribed should now proceed as follows.

• It was recently announced that a well-known streaming service will be completely discontinued.
• The option to sign up for a new subscription has not been around for some time.
• However, there is already an alternative for customers.

Streaming is becoming increasingly popular, which is why more and more media companies are launching their own platforms. Recently Apple TV + and Disney + , among others , have been launched, which have been competing with the top dogs Netflix and Prime Video for some time .

Streaming service is stamped - there were countless films and series offered

The all-clear first: No, it is not about the streaming giants Netflix *, Prime Video * or Disney + *. Nevertheless, the name should be familiar to many film and series lovers, because  the ProSiebenSat.1 Group's Maxdome platform is affected . It currently offers well over 50,000 content.

Many may not be hearing the platform shutdown message for the first time. In fact, it was announced at the end of 2019 that Maxdome would only be active for a few months, reports the media magazine Clap. However, more detailed information is now known: The streaming service is expected to be switched off in summer 2020 . Accordingly, it has not been possible to subscribe since March of this year.

What are the consequences for Maxdome customers now?

Many customers are now wondering what it means for them and their subscription if Maxdome will soon no longer exist. ProSiebenSat.1 has already found a solution that should satisfy most users: Instead of logging on to Maxdome, they can access the Joyn streaming service in the future , which still exists. So there is no need for action by the users. The same applies to new customers. You are advised to register with Joyn .

Incidentally, one feature of Maxdome remains for the time being. Customers still have the option to buy content through the  Maxdome store - at least for the time being. You can use your regular login data for this.
