Every day, Le Parisien is mobilized to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today we are interested in the questioning of Lisa, who asks us what the penalties will be for not wearing a mask.
From May 11, the wearing of a mask will be compulsory, particularly in public transport, trains, as well as in schools for teachers. Everywhere else, it will simply be recommended. A merchant, as well as a taxi or VTC driver, may however refuse access to a customer who is not wearing a mask.
Where the mask is compulsory, in particular in the metro, bus, stations and trains, not wearing it may be penalized. The amount must still be fixed by decree, but it is likely to be at the same level as the fine in the event of non-compliance with the rules put in place from the start of confinement on March 17, namely 135 euros.
“We will also give the specialized services of SNCF and RATP, which are Suge and GPSR, the legal capacity to carry out controls. And, if necessary, to impose fines, "said on April 30 the Secretary of State for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, in the columns of Le Parisien.
“Before sanctioning, there will be pedagogy. We will support users in the practice of wearing the mandatory mask in transport, ”he added.
