(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 4 - The traditional reception of the first June which takes place in the Quirinale gardens on the occasion of the Republic Day is skipped. The coronavirus emergency obviously makes the event impossible and the presidency of the Republic has already decided that it will not take place. The reception in the beautiful gardens of the Quirinale which collects the gothic politics, culture and entrepreneurship of Italy represents the barometer of the state of health of the Republic and is not the first time that it is suspended. In 2012 President Napolitano - in full economic crisis - had first decided to streamline the reception format and then, in 2013 and 2014, to suspend the event. Then, in 2015, the president Sergio Mattarella decided to open the Quirinale palace as much as possible to the use of the citizens and also restored the traditional reception, albeit in a more sober form than in the past. Today Mattarellasi himself finds himself forced to a new inevitable stop.
