"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is the title of the new Assassin's adventure. Ubisoft has now released a first trailer - all information about the new game.

  • Ubisoft has revealed the title "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" and thus the Viking setting.
  • There are already some details about the plot and the protagonist.
  • Players take on the role of Eivor, who sets out with the Vikings from Norway to England to build a new settlement there.

Fans have long speculated what it could be like - Ubisoft has officially confirmed it: "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is the next part of the popular assassin series. As many suspected, the scene moved to Scandinavia during the Vikings after "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" last played in ancient Greece. How much is known about "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" so far?

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla": Eivor is the name of the protagonist

Ubisoft recently featured the title of the game in a whopping eight-hour live stream. Spectators were able to watch how Australian artist Bosslogic used Photoshop to design the teaser image and gradually revealed the Viking setting .

Shortly thereafter, Ubisoft released a Cinematic Trailer , which does not provide direct insight into the gameplay, but it already shows a lot of what the players can expect. You can see the trailer in the article above.

We now know that the war between the  Vikings and England is  thematized in the game. There is more information on the official website of Ubisoft. "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" therefore takes place in the 9th century. The players take on the role of Eivor , a Viking clan leader whose plan is to build a new home in the fragile kingdom of England. One of his opponents is Alfred the Great, who can be seen in the trailer. For this reason, the thematic age of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" can be dated to the late 9th century - when Alfred was the king of the West Saxons and Anglo-Saxons.

As is typical for the series, ancient deities are likely to play a role in history again. Nordic mythology has enough stories to offer for this. Odin  will probably play a bigger role . The trailer also shows an older man hiding his face under a hood. This may be Eivor's assassin mentor - but some believe that the Odin is human.

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla": The game world

Eivor's journey begins in Norway. Players should be able to travel between England and Norway by boat at any time. The major regions  in England are said to be Wessex, Northumbria, East Anglia and Mercia. In addition to several small towns, London , Winchester  and Jórvík are said to be  the three major capitals. As usual, players can expect a large open game world .

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla": The gameplay

Every decision that is made should have a lasting impact on the game world. It is up to the players to decide whether they are looking for diplomatic solutions  or to enforce their will by force . There should be various dialog options  to choose from, all of which can change the trip.

But without raids it would not be a Viking life. The longships must be used to raid settlements and collect resources  . There are also said to be big battles in which Eivor and his fighters attack castles.

Eivor's native settlement is in Norway, but the Vikings want to build a new home in the hostile areas of England. For this purpose, buildings  such as barracks , forges  and tattoo parlors can be  built. In addition, new members are to be recruited and the clan is to be gradually expanded. Your own village serves as a starting point, as players keep coming back there to start missions.

Naval battles such as those known from "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" will not be part of the gameplay. Leading producer Julien Laferrière told Eurogamer that big battles with cannons and similar weapons shouldn't be expected, simply because Vikings never actually did. The longships were mainly used for fast transport , also through the English countryside, since rivers were used as main roads at the time. That should also be the case in the game. Nevertheless, some battles are to be expected on the longships, just in a different form than that known from "Assassin's Creed" naval battles.

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla": The combat system

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is said to offer a brand new combat system. Eivor's weapons include axes , swords  and shields . He can hold a weapon in each hand at the same time - even fighting with two shields should be possible. The hidden blade is also making a comeback.

Eivor can be female or male

As in "Assassin's Creed Odyssey", players can decide whether they want to play a female or male character - so Eivor can be a man or a woman. There are also numerous other options for customization . Eivor can get different hairstyles, tattoos and of course equipment.

The raven  helps Eivor to explore the surroundings from the air - in the predecessors this was already possible with eagles.

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" will be a pure single player game  .
