A sector that only in Italy "produces 2 billion euros per year in turnover and which in three months of lockdown risks a loss of half a billion". Gyms and coexistence with Coronavirus. While the home-forced Italians have transformed living rooms and bedrooms into imaginative spaces for streaming fitness sessions, the world of small and large centers for the physical activity of those who play sports for passion and health, not for competing, and in suffering. And awaits the reopening, with the novelty of the protocol for the re-start expected on May 18, which foresees all the actions to be performed, from sanitation to staff preparation, the management of the entrances, differentiated routes, signs, protections, distances and above all number of accesses, in addition to the great problem of changing rooms and bathrooms.
There is a supply chain to be safeguarded around the world of gyms, as Vito Scavo tells us, at the top of McFit, a multinational group that boasts only 36 gyms in Italy, 250 direct and other 140 indirect employees: "We are talking about a figure of around 10 billion of euros a year. That's a lot. And it's a sector that compared to other sports is still so little considered. Yet I would like to remind the government and employees that a gym contributes a lot to the health of citizens. The healthier they are, the less they get sick and cost the community. When you forget this sector, which for many years has contributed to the health of 10% of citizens, it is not the best ".
