Covid does not stop Race the cure, it becomes a marathon Live on social networks

The Race for the Cure, the largest event for the prevention and fight against breast cancer, this year becomes "Live" and will be run on social media. The coronavirus, in fact, stopped the 21st edition of the Rome Race organized by Komen Italia, which was supposed to take place on May 17th. But the awareness and fundraising marathon will take place in a virtual way to prevent only tumors from running.
    "Breast cancers continue their insidious run even during the pandemic. Over the next 12 months, over 2 million women in the world will receive this diagnosis and more than 600,000 will lose their lives for this disease," explains Riccardo Masetti, director of the Center for Senology of the Gemelli Policlinico IRCCS Foundation in Rome and president of Komen Italia. Keeping the attention on breast cancer high and raising funds to help fight it is the goal of Race Live, which will have as its godmothers Maria Grazia Cucinotta and Rosanna Banfi and which has already collected important memberships from representatives of culture, sport and of the show. To date, thanks to the 56 Races organized in 20 years in 7 Italian cities and to the generosity of over a million members and companies, Komen Italia has been able to invest over 18 million in support of research, prevention and oncological treatments. Also this year, on May 17th, during the live marathon it will be possible to make a free donation or choose from gadgets on the website www.komenitalia.it. In addition, during the live broadcast an important space will be dedicated to the comparison between doctors and women in pink who live with the disease or have defeated it. Different and remote, but still concrete, Race Live is the first of many events that will end in September with the Virtual Race, in which over 20 European countries will gather forces at the same time for the same cause.
